The Salvation Army's Christmas Present Appeal

The Salvation Army are running their annual Christmas Present Appeal which entails members of the public providing shoeboxes filled with new, unwrapped goodies that will be wrapped and gifted to children who otherwise may not have the opportunity to wake up and open a special gift on Christmas morning.

The logic behind this program encourages individuals to add an extra toy or gift to their shopping trolley as a means of helping the thousands of families who may be struggling to buy Christmas gifts for their children and ensuring that these families and children don’t have to miss out on the festivities of present opening.

Gifts can include anything from soft and educational toys for younger children, to games and toys or accessories for older children. To find out more about the program, or for some inspiration on what to include in your shoebox, please visit

People can find themselves poverty stricken for various reasons including; a major change in circumstance or coming from a background of entrenched, generational poverty. As such, the Christmas Present Appeal is one of many ways that the Salvation Army supports those in need.

As a means of helping the local community and keeping up with tradition, Vantage Toyota Wakefield have kindly offered their showroom as a designated ‘Drop Off Point’ (DOP) for the shoeboxes. If you live in or in the surrounding area of Wakefield, visit Vantage Toyota and deliver your shoebox between the 1st and 18th of November, where Vantage Toyota Wakefield will be more than happy to take them in for you.

We hope to see you soon at Vantage Toyota Wakefield and hope that you have a joyous time over the festive period.

Give a gift and light up a life!
