Toyota Wakefield are getting into the swing of the season of goodwill by supporting charity Samaritans Purse.
Samaritan’s Purse UK is an international relief organisation. They work through local churches to help countries all around the world who are in need of physical and spiritual aid. Operation Christmas Child is their brain child.
The idea is very simple, participants take a medium sized shoebox and wrap the box and lid in Christmas wrapping paper. They then indicate on the box whether the contents are relevant for a boy or a girl and then select an age group, 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14 years. They then fill the shoebox with toys, hygiene items and school supplies. Along with a donation to cover the cost of the project and a note from themselves they then deliver the shoebox to a drop off point for collection. They can even attach a bar code so that they can track which country their shoebox has ended up in.
Since 1990, more than 146 million children in over 150 countries have received a shoebox from Operation Christmas Child, allowing Samaritan's Purse to spread a little joy during the festive period.
Toyota Wakefield have been getting involved with this great course for the past few years and are happy to say that they have nominated themselves as a drop off point yet again. Over 200 shoeboxes were collected from the centre this week and are now winging their way across the world to bring some smiles to children's faces this Christmas.
