At Vantage Toyota Wakefield, supporting both local and national charities is very important to the entire team. This Christmas, the team are very proud to be supporting The Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child.
The Samaritan's Purse is an international relief and development organisation that works through local churches spread love and support amongst communities in Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Every Christmas they run the Operation Christmas Child campaign to spread festive love across these communities where 'the most wonderful time of the year' is just a fictional story. They do this by encouraging people to fill an empty shoebox with a selection of gifts suitable for young children, including small toys, school supplies and hygiene items, before dropping it off at a collection point. Since Operation Christmas Child began in 1990, over 124 million boys and girls in over 150 countries have received a special shoebox gift and Vantage Toyota Wakefield really wanted to get involved themselves.
Since their appeal began in November, the Toyota Wakefield team have been completely overwhelmed by the support from the local community collecting over 1000 shoebox gifts which have all been collected by the amazing Samaritan's Purse volunteers and will now make their way to these countries in need in time for Christmas.
Ian Marchant, Centre Principal at Toyota Wakefield, said:
"The support we have received throughout the Operation Christmas Child appeal has been amazing. We've received over 1000 shoebox gifts which will be gratefully received by these young children and I'd really like to thank everyone who has supported a child that they will never meet but will always feel like they haven't been forgotten."
